FAQ

  • Integrative therapy is a flexible, person-centered approach that draws on various therapeutic techniques to support your unique needs. As an integrative counsellor, I recognise that no two individuals are the same, so I tailor each session to what you bring to the therapy room. Whether you're working through past experiences, navigating a challenging situation, or simply seeking personal growth, I adapt my methods to provide the best support possible. Together, we’ll use a combination of therapeutic modalities that best suit you, from talking therapies to mindfulness-based practices, creating a collaborative, compassionate, and safe space to explore your emotions and experiences.

  • In online counselling sessions, you’ll receive a secure link before each appointment, which gives you access to our private video call. This link is unique to each session and is fully encrypted, meaning no one else can see or hear what is discussed. Rest assured, your privacy is my priority. At the scheduled time, you’ll simply click the link and join the virtual therapy room. You’ll need to allow access to your camera and microphone, which ensures we can communicate effectively, but this connection is only live during the session. Afterward, the link becomes inactive, maintaining confidentiality. Please ensure that you are in a completely private space where you will not be interrupted.

  • In each session, you can expect a welcoming and open environment. We'll work at your pace, exploring whatever you choose to bring up. There’s no pressure—sometimes therapy can feel intense, and it’s completely normal to feel nervous, especially in the beginning. My role is to guide you through these feelings and to create a space where you feel heard and respected.

  • Each session lasts 50 minutes. This time is allocated to you solely and if you are late/unable to turn up (without advising before) this time will remain held for you to attend. I'm not able to extend time for late starts

  • £50 per session. I have a limited number of reduced rate sessions available to support people on lower incomes/benefits.

All sessions must be paid for in advance

  • For face to face sessions I ask that you arrive on time. I don't have a waiting room. Directions and address will be advised at the time of contracting. There is limited free parking near by and a paid carpark a two minute walk away.

  • When you come to a counselling session, there’s no need to bring anything with you—just yourself. This is your time, a space where you can share whatever is on your mind, whether it’s a specific issue or just a feeling you can’t quite put into words yet. You don’t have to prepare or have all the answers. It’s completely okay to show up as you are, even if you’re not sure what you want to talk about.

In our sessions, you’re in a safe, supportive space where you’ll be truly heard. We’ll explore whatever feels important to you, at your pace. Sometimes that means discussing challenges or emotions that you’ve been carrying, and other times it might be more about reflecting on your thoughts and experiences. The focus is entirely on what you need in the moment.

  • Meeting someone new can feel uncomfortable, particularly when you're sharing personal thoughts and emotions. I understand that opening up in therapy takes time, and I work carefully to make the process as comfortable as possible for you. That said, not every therapeutic relationship will feel like the right fit. There may be times when a client doesn’t feel a connection, which is perfectly okay. If you ever feel uncomfortable or feel that we’re not a good match, I'd be happy to discuss this and support you with ending our contract. It’s important that you find a therapist with whom you feel safe and understood.

  • Everything shared in our sessions is held in strict confidentiality, in line with the NCPS (National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society) Code of Ethics. This means that, in almost every case, what you share stays between us. However, there are rare situations where I may need to break confidentiality, such as if I believe you're at risk of harming yourself or others, or in certain legal circumstances. These exceptions are outlined in our initial contract and will be discussed during our first session, so you can feel fully informed from the start.

My goal is to provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts and emotions without fear or worry. If any concerns arise during the process, we’ll work through them together, always keeping your well-being at the center of our work.

  • I have the following recognised qualifications:

Professional Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling Practice

    Advanced Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling

Diploma in Counselling Skills and Theory

Certificate in Hypnotherapy and Counselling Skills

  • Single Session Therapy can be a powerful option for addressing specific, targeted issues. These longer, more focused sessions are particularly helpful for clients who have had prior counselling—whether with me or another therapist—and are looking for a dedicated space to explore and reflect on a particular challenge.

Unlike a standard session, Single Session Therapy is designed to help you dive deeper into a specific concern, offering a concentrated opportunity to work through what’s on your mind. These sessions are double the length of a typical session, allowing us to really focus and develop strategies or insights that can support you moving forward.

It’s important to note that these sessions are not meant as introductory or sampler sessions. They are carefully structured to provide targeted support for clients who have a clear issue they wish to address, whether it's a recent challenge or something you’ve been reflecting on for a while. Because of their extended nature, these sessions are charged accordingly.

Single Session Therapy can be a helpful option for when you need focused time to gain clarity, make decisions, or find new perspectives on a specific topic, all within the supportive framework of counselling.
